Potato Jam

"Monday Night Jammmz," the weekly jam show at The Baked Potato in Studio City, CA. hosted by guitarist John Ziegler and ZPZ guitarist Jamie Kime was joined last night for an impromptu appearance by members of the Zappa Plays Zappa band.

Scheila Gonzalez, Joe Travers and Pete Griffin joined Jamie and John on stage and proceeded to rip through incendiary stripped-down versions of "Eat That Question" and "Pound For A Brown," featuring lengthy solos from each player.

It was amazing seeing members of the band playing again with all the energy of a full-blown Zappa Plays Zappa show in such a small club. Drinks were vibrated off tables, the walls were shaken and the crowd in attendance was wowed. The ZPZ crew then casually returned to their tables in the audience and continued their evening of catching up and hanging out.

The Zappa Plays Zappa tour my be out of sight, but not out of mind. The band will return to rehearsals soon in preparation for the next leg of the tour in October.
